2/19/20 – Group ride recap – South Beach to Tomorrowland

If you’ve rode with the ESk8Miami Crew before, you already know that one of our favorite rides is to go from the 53rd St parking lot in Miami Beach all the way to Tomorrowland in Downtown. The ride is always unique in its own way, but we decided to spruce up the ride last night.

Here’s a breakdown of last nights riders:

ESk8rs

EUCs

Bikes

Yankee

Adam

Walter

JI

Jamal

Khalil

Robert

Enrique

Fast Eddie

Matteo (One Wheel)

Clari

Lynn (eBike)

Our main goal was to hit South Beach before we hit our re-charge spot at Tomorrowland. This isn’t necessarily a major change, but it does add 3 miles to our usual ride. We knew that some of our ESk8 riders wouldn’t be able to make it on this 12 mile journey but for the most part, most of the ESk8 boards in our community are either custom, modded or are built for speed and distance (Lacroix boards, I’m talking about you).

We had 12 total riders last night, including two new riders – Kahlil and Lynn.

The EUC Miami crew was out representing as usual, ruling the roads. Shout out to Fast Eddie, Robert and Enrique for holding the fast riders together with the rest of the group and the added traffic control.

We were able to take advantage of the South Beach boardwalk for as long as possible, but due to construction in different parts of the boardwalk, we had to jump back into the streets. Traffic wasn’t horrible as we rode through South Beach. Seeing all the tourists checking out the group as we rode by was pretty fun. Tourists are usually in awe when they see our group fly by.

We took a quick spin over to South Pointe beach before making our way to Tomorrowland. A couple of hours later, and a clean 23miles worth of riding, the 12 riders made it back to the meetup spot for the end of the ride. The group finished around 1am EST with no major issues.

As always we promote safety first during our group rides. If you are a new rider that is interested in joining us, feel free to reach out to us using the Contact Us page, Instagram, Facebook or on Twitter.

Ride Highlights

A couple of things stood out during this ride:

  • The total distance of our ride was ~23 miles
  • The group gets a lot of attention and love from the South Beach tourists
    • Traffic wasn’t as bad
    • No issue with police as we cruised down Ocean Dr
  • EUC demo rides are happening every ride
    • Esk8ers at risk of extinction in Miami
  • Fun times @ Tomorrowland Miami
    • Re-charge, drinks and food – we didn’t get a group pic
  • Still a decent amount of construction going on at the boardwalk
  • The community continues it’s growth

04/10/19 Group Ride Recap

There goes Gianci going 90mph again...

Here is the 04/10/19 Group Ride recap. It was another exciting and fun ride with The ESk8Miami crew. ESk8Legends @rocowim & @battosaii930 were there and the rest of the crew including@esk8miami @masontran @giankeerulo @radithlsmn @cmdnotfound .

Notable Highlights:

  • Tran had some board issues 1 minute into the ride. Luckily he brought a spare board.
  • The old Boosted MIA crew, now known as MIAESK8 also had a group ride this night. They were suppose to ride out from Key Biscayne to The Wharf…
    • We got the Wharf around 10pm, but they were already closed for the night and never got to meet these guys.
  • We made our Pit Stop at La Sandwicherie in Brickell, FL
  • Total trip distance 14 miles – round trip.
  • It was a new route for the ESk8Miami crew. We felt safe most of the ride. However, at one point on Key Biscayne, we have a picture of a car passing us at 90mph…
